Developing Horticulture in India Requires Clustering
According to Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the country’s overall horticulture development will be focused with the help of the Cluster Development Programme, and farmers should benefit from this program.
He said that the provinces of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Manipur, Mizoram, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and so forth should also be included in the 55 clusters that are identified by the crops that are their focus or main crops. Tomar also stressed crop diversification and the connection of this ambitious program to the market for the sale of produce and capacity building.
He asked them to give the farmers a fair price for their produce so that they could make more money. Any program or scheme should put the farmers’ interests first.
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-affiliated institutions’ available land within the identified clusters should be utilized for this program’s implementation.
