Director horticulture reviews progress of schemes in Ramban

Ramban: Director Horticulture Jammu, C.L. Sharma, chaired a meeting in Ramban to review the progress of various horticulture schemes, including the High-Density Area Plantation (HADP) and the Revised Modified High-Density Plantation. During the meeting, the Director emphasized the need for officers and staff to speed up development work in departmental nurseries and meet their targets on time to ensure efficient utilization of funds. He directed that all fruit plants ready for distribution should be dispatched promptly.

Highlighting the importance of HADP projects, the Director stressed the implementation of components like plant propagation units, rootstock banks, mother orchards, protected cultivation units, and rejuvenation of old orchards. He urged the staff to reach out to as many farmers as possible to ensure the schemes’ benefits reach the ground level.

The developmental activities at the Advanced Centre for Horticulture Development (ACHD) farm were also reviewed. Farm Manager Virinder Kumar was instructed to focus on producing high-quality grafted planting materials and further enhance the farm’s operations.

Earlier, Chief Horticulture Officer Ramban, Anil Gorkha, presented an overview of the district’s horticulture achievements under various schemes aimed at uplifting farmers. He also shared the concerns of field staff, with assurances that these would be addressed promptly.
