DM advocates for Kiwi production, self-employment for women
Bageshwar: District Magistrate of Bageshwar (Uttarakhand) Ashish Kumar Bhatgain visited the region of Shama to take stock of the progress of farming and gardening and inspected the Shama Growth Center. The DM appreciated the farmers’ hard work and stressed the importance of enhancing their income. He encouraged women in self-help groups to take up self-employment initiatives.
He encouraged the farmers’ to go for kiwi cultivation in the district and stressed the need to involve more farmers in the growth of kiwi. He further added that Kiwi is replete with medicinal values. He also emphasized promoting rosemary production among the women of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) group as part of the district’s livelihood promotion efforts.

During his visit, the DM urged officials to work swiftly to improve the district’s agricultural economy and ensure that farmers fully benefit from government schemes. He emphasized the need for efficient packaging and marketing, along with maintaining food safety and hygiene standards.
In addition to agriculture, local residents raised concerns about roads and animal hospitals, to which the District Magistrate assured timely action.
Chief Development Officer RC Tiwari also spoke, noting that district planning has been providing all kinds of technical support and training to farmers. He went on to say that the Industry Department would provide training to local women to promote self-employment.
Several top officials were present during the event, including CDO RC Tiwari, District Horticulture Officer RK Singh, Sub-District Magistrate Anurag Arya, and local leaders Ram Singh Koranga and Bhawan Singh.
