Eco Parks Constructed by the Coal Sector to Promote the Mine Tourism Industry

The Government announced on Friday that eight eco-parks have recently been constructed in various parts of the country and that two more will be completed during the current fiscal year in an effort to boost mining tourism.

Reclaimed land is being used to build the aforementioned eco-parks.
In October, coal and mines minister Pralhad Joshi opened the eco-park of Coal India’s WCL called Jhurey/Bal Gangadhar Tilak.

NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) recently made a deal with the Pondicherry Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) to show sustainable mining practices and promote ecotourism at mines.

The agreement between Northern Coalfields Ltd. (NCL), a CIL subsidiary, and the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board to boost the Singrauli Eco-Tourism Circuit and a second memorandum of understanding (MOU) between WCL and the Directorate of Tourism, Maharashtra are also intended to promote eco-tourism in the coal industry.

From January to November this year, coal/lignite PSUs planted approximately 47 lakh saplings on 2300 ha of land in accordance with greening and sustainable development initiatives.
