Empowering Entrepreneurs, Horticulture P&M Hosts PM-FME Awareness Event

Delhi: In a bid to empower and educate stakeholders in the horticulture sector, the Horticulture Promotion and Marketing (P&M) department organized one day awareness programme on the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM-FME) scheme District Kupwara. The event, held at the department’s headquarters in Delhi, aimed to highlight the benefits of the scheme and encourage horticulture entrepreneurs to take advantage of its provisions.

The PM-FME scheme, launched as part of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’, aims to promote the formalization of micro food processing enterprises in the country. Under the scheme, financial assistance is provided to micro enterprises for the upgradation of their infrastructure, procurement of necessary equipment, and marketing of their products. Additionally, the scheme seeks to enhance the skills of the entrepreneurs through training and capacity building initiatives.

During the awareness programme, experts from the horticulture and food processing industries shared valuable insights on the benefits of the scheme and how it can be leveraged for the growth of micro enterprises in the horticulture sector. They emphasized the importance of adopting best practices in processing, packaging, and marketing to enhance the competitiveness of horticulture products in both domestic and international markets.

Speaking at the event Director of Horticulture P&M, highlighted the role of the department in facilitating the growth of the horticulture sector through various initiatives. He urged horticulture entrepreneurs to avail the benefits of the PM-FME scheme and contribute towards building a self-reliant India.

The programme received an overwhelming response from participants, including horticulture entrepreneurs, industry experts and government officials. It served as a platform for networking and collaboration, paving the way for a brighter future for the horticulture sector in the country.
