Experts guide farmers in two-day training on horticulture crop production
Peren: A two-day training programme on “Production Technology of Horticulture Crops in the NEH Region” took place on March 11 and 12 at Mhainamtsi Village Community Hall under Peren district. The vibrant event was organized by the Jalukie Block Farmer’s Producer Organization in association with ICAR-KVK, Peren, and it was sponsored by the Central Institute of Horticulture, Medziphema, aiming to bring awareness among the people of the region.
The purpose of the training was to educate farmers about advanced horticulture practices and modern techniques of farming so that they can increase their crop production. Experts from KVK-Peren and the Central Institute of Horticulture served as resource persons. They discussed numerous important topics related to horticulture crops, including nutrient management in Kharif vegetable crops, scientific cultivation of Kharif vegetables, horticulture-based integrated farming systems, and Jalkund, a low-cost water harvesting technique for vegetable cultivation.

Besides this, a marathon session also took place on integrated pest management and post-harvest management of King Chilli, aiming to transmit knowledge to farmers so that they can minimize losses and improve yield.
A huge number of farmers actively took part in the event, gaining essential knowledge regarding modern techniques in horticulture as well as sustainable farming. The training was an inspiration for farmers to adopt modern scientific methods for more productivity and profits as well.
The participants learned a lot in the two-day training camp. The experts shared some important practical knowledge, which will be crucial for their horticulture farming. The initiative was crucial in empowering farmers and endorsing sustainable agriculture in the entire area.
