Farmers focus on high-value crops for better earnings in 2025

New Delhi: Indian farmers are taking a lot of interest in horticulture production. Therefore, they are moving away from traditional farming to horticulture, boosting their income as well. Some of the crops, such as saffron, avocados, and dragon fruits, have been giving almost Rs 6 lakh to Rs 30 lakh per acre. It depends on the quality of crops.

Here are some of the profitable options for farmers in 2025: Saffron is known as the most expensive crop all over the world. It is mainly cultivated in Jammu and Kashmir due to its favorable climate. The price of saffron is around Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh per kilogram. Farmers are earning heavily through saffron cultivation.

Avocado is also known as butter fruit. It is replete with medicinal values and gaining popularity, especially in urban India. This fruit is mainly grown in regions like the Nilgiris and some parts of Karnataka. The price of avocado is around Rs 300–Rs 400 per kilogram. Therefore, this fruit is a remarkable choice for farmers to earn Rs 6 lakh to Rs 12 lakh per acre yearly.

Dragon fruit is another option for the horticulture farmers to fetch handsome income through its cultivation. The fruit has been gradually gaining popularity in India fast, cultivating mainly in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha. The government’s Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) has been planning to enlarge its cultivation to 50,000 hectares by 2028.

These high-value crops are getting popularity in the Indian markets, getting support from government schemes. Farmers have an opportunity to grow these crops and boost their income as well.
