Floriculture Department launches skill-enhancing prorgamme in Kashmir
Kashmir: The Jammu and Kashmir government has left no stone unturned to make floriculture a blooming industry. In this regard, the Directorate of Floriculture, Kashmir, launched a special Training, Exposure, and Interaction Programme for the year 2025–26. The aim of the event was to train people with modern techniques who are involved in the floriculture sector so that innovative practices along with eco-friendly and sustainable agricultural practices can be promoted.
During this event, several experts transmit the knowledge of how to do flower farming scientifically. Their emphasis on advanced cultivation methods, pest and disease control, how to use water judiciously, access to market, bringing new flower varieties, networking opportunities, and so on. They also visited to see some of the floriculture units as well.

The director hopes that this initiative will increase the income of the flower growers and encourage entrepreneurship. The valley has great potential in the floriculture sector; with this push, it is expected that the sector will boom in both national and global markets.
The training sessions are held on a monthly basis at the district level, aiming to increase awareness among the farmers regarding the scope in this sector. A detailed calendar of events is likely to be released soon, and growers and entrepreneurs need to participate actively. This shows the commitment of the Floriculture Department towards supporting the local flower industry and addressing their challenges. Therefore, all stakeholders are invited to avail themselves of the opportunity.
