Sidhi: The floriculture business has been blooming in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district. The entire area is doing floral business worth around Rs 12 to 15 lakh during wedding season. The demand for flowers is high in different shapes, such as garlands, bouquets, or decorations for various functions and events. However, the most amazing thing is that not a single farmer grows flowers in the district.
Florists of this region procure flowers from different cities like Prayagraj, Varanasi, Nagpur, and Kolkata. Despite the huge demand, the Horticulture Department has never tried to encourage local farmers towards flower farming. If cultivation starts, then their floral business will boom further.

As per the local traders, in the last wedding season in November 2025, about 50,000 garlands were sold, and this number is expected to touch above 75,000 during the wedding months of April, May, and June. Flowers are used for the decoration of the venue and the bride and groom’s cars. Houses are also decorated with flowers during marriages.
Amazing! Only four shops in the main town are handling all the floral business. They have to face the challenges, like keeping flowers fresh, especially in summer. Most of the flowers are sent to other cities, so the issue of transportation arises. Therefore, most farmers don’t want to venture into this business.
Traders think that if flower cultivation starts in the district, then local farmers must join it. They believe that massive production will give farmers a chance to send their produce to nearby districts and towns; currently, the demand for flowers is growing fast. If local farmers start farming with advanced techniques, then their earnings will shoot up.
