Flower pots brought for G-20 Summit becoming junk at nurseries!

New Delhi: About two months ago, the country’s capital was shining. Greenery and beautiful flowers were visible everywhere. Flower pots were placed on roadsides and buildings, containing various types of plants. It felt like heaven while passing through Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan. Now, if you pass through there, it will seem that heaven is falling apart. The pots which were enhancing the beauty of this place, were taken away by unknown persons.

They scattered their soil casually on the grass and continued walking with the empty pot. About 1.6 lakh such pots were planted in Delhi. Along with PWD, Delhi Police was also on alert to stop the theft. However, after G-20 the seurity was lightened. As a result, such shameful pictures are coming from Delhi. Of the pots that are left, many of the plants in them have dried up because there is no one to take care of them.

According to an official of the horticulture wing of PWD, the department took back about half of the pots to four nurseries to avoid theft. But sometimes it’s not enough. During G20, about one lakh flower pots were planted along the roads in Akbar Road, Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Marg, Shanti Path, Panchsheel Marg, Kautilya Marg, CP, India Gate and Janpath in NDMC area. Many of these pots have now been removed from the roadside. Some flower pots have been stolen from Shanti Path, Sardar Patel Marg and Panchsheel Marg.

On these complaints, NDMC Vice President Satish Upadhyay says that it is true that there have been complaints of flower pots being stolen. People are being appealed that flower pots have been installed to beautify the NDMC area. These pots are for their convenience. Therefore, do not tamper with the pots.

The whole of Delhi is turning into a gas chamber and people are being forced to breathe polluted air and everyone from children to the elderly are falling prey to diseases Under the circumstances, it seems that the government is not paying any attention to the conservation of trees and plants. Thousands of flower pots, which enhanced the beauty of Central Delhi to welcome foreign guests for the G20 event, are lying like junk at nurseries. Most of the plants in pots have dried up.

The game of passing the buck is on. Surprisingly, there are many pots in the Delhi Park and Garden Society located near the Millennium Depot which are not used. The Forest Department could not even restore the plants that dried up without maintenance. There are many pots in it which cracked due to being left in the sun, which will break when filled with soil. These pots, purchased at a cost of lakhs of rupees, are not being utilized properly.

Experts are sad about the pots drying up and lying like junk. They say that on the one hand, there is a need to increase the green area to keep the environment healthy, on the other hand, it is very sad to see the pots lying like this. The administration should have thought at the same time when it was planting the pots. When flower pots start getting stolen, it is not right to pick them up and keep them here and there. If the pots are left empty, they will get spoiled due to sunlight. If these pots are to be kept safe by removing them from the roads, then they can be kept safely at places like community centres, hospitals and offices etc.
