Lucknow: Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya called for using every inch of farmland to make the country a developed nation. While speaking at a seminar in Lucknow on horticulture development recently, Maurya said that the state government has left no stone unturned to provide all kinds of help to horticulture farmers and food processing industries, helping India become economically sound and making agriculture a potent force.
He honoured progressive farmers and retired officers for their remarkable contributions to agriculture. At the event he also inspired farmers to practice horticulture along with traditional farming to increase the yield and income of farmers as well. He further added that the state has been focusing on modern farming methods and trying to empower women through food processing initiatives.

Also present at the seminar was Dinesh Pratap Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Horticulture, Agriculture Marketing, and Agricultural Export. He highlighted the department’s success as it marks its 50th anniversary, saying it has supported millions of farmers over the years.
Singh urged farmers to adopt micro-irrigation methods, including pivot irrigation, to encourage community farming and improve agricultural efficiency. He stressed that disciplined and modern farming practices would help increase crop yield and open up better market opportunities.
The seminar also displayed various horticultural and food processing products. Technical sessions were also held, addressed by experts. At the end a souvenir was also released highlighting the 50-year journey of the Horticulture Department.
