To spread the information among farmers, fruit growers/traders about various initiatives and Government schemes including One District One Product (ODOP), Post harvest technology and High-Density plantation, the Department of Horticulture Planning & Marketing (P&M) Kupwara has organized an awareness camp at Fruit Mandi Bumhama. A large number of people attended the camp.

An appeal was made to the fruit growers to use the infrastructure and facilities in the best possible way, provided by the government. So that there can be smooth marketing of the product.

Tending to the social affair, the Director Horticulture P&M asked the farmers to take on various scientific approaches like post-harvest technology, high-density plantation etc, for which the Government is hand holding the farmers as far as various impetuses for expanding their pay producing limit.

The high-density plantation is available both for fresh fruit and walnut production which is being supported through the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme. Also, they should establish their Controlling Atmosphere stores which will ensure the durability of the fruit and vegetables. Mandi facilities are also provided to them by the department.
Traders were asked to start their respective trade in the mandi immediately or else the cancellation process will be initiated against the non-functional traders.

During the event, Officers from Horticulture, SKUAST and different divisions gave definite attention and detailed information to the audience with respect to different schemes and initiatives of the government for supporting the horticulture production and facilitation of the market in the area.
