G20 Aftermath: Enhancing the overall environment & infrastructure in Janpath Road area

New Delhi: Satish Upadhyay, Vice Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), along with a delegation of Senior Officers and Officials from NDMC met former President Ram Nath Kovind at his residence, 12, Janpath, New Delhi.

After this meeting, Vice Chairman inspected Janpath Road whole stretch with NDMC officials. During this inspection, several important directions were issued to enhance the overall environment and infrastructure in the area.

During the inspection, several important instructions were issued to various departments of the Council for the beautification of the surrounding area from the Maulana Azad Road intersection to Akbar Road intersection. Instructed to plan gap filling with plants in front of bungalows, especially towards Maulana Azad Road in L Shape Green Belt Development”.

It was suggested to plant bamboo plants or Ashoka trees along the wall in front of the bungalow. Additionally, it was suggested to develop a green belt along the boundary wall in front of Vigyan Bhawan on Maulana Azad Road to maintain continuity in the landscaping. Pruning of trees and planting of potted plants in the entryway were also suggested.

The Civil Department was directed to explore the possibility of installing Artifelt. Furthermore, it was suggested that a fountain be installed at the intersection at the junction of Janpath and Maulana Azad Road. CPWD’s plan to open an exit gate towards Maulana Azad Road was accepted, and NDMC was entrusted with carrying out the necessary civil works for the purpose. It was also noted that NDMC will issue NOC to CPWD for the construction of the approach road for the proposed exit gate.

Satish Upadhyay said during the inspection that “Janpath Road is a prime location where many eminent personalities of India reside. It is our top priority to maintain this area as a clean and green environment that reflects the stature of its residents.”

Former President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, commended the NDMC team for their exemplary work in organizing the G20 Summit.
