Garbage dumping near Pune airport garden troubles local residents

Pune: Local residents and morning walkers of Pune are in distress due to garbage dumping near the garden at Pune Airport. In spite of all efforts to keep the park neat and clean, garbage is still dumped at least twice or thrice in a week. Despite the administration’s cleaning process, the issue continues. Many plants have dried up amid excessive garbage.

To address this concern, Santosh Dhoke, managing director of Pune Airport, said that a new tender has been approved for the garden’s maintenance. “The previous tender had expired. Now, a new three-year contract worth Rs1 crore has been passed to take care of the garden. We have planted new grass, which will take three months to grow. Besides this, several staff have also been deployed. The responsible department will be notified about the garbage issue, and necessary action will be taken,” he assured.

The administration has been working relentlessly to keep the park garbage-free. To improve its beauty, new plants will have to be planted. Numerous staff have also been recruited for the maintenance of the garden. It seems that some commercial departments are creating this nuisance. Now, the administration has issued a notice against them and is ready to take strict action against the guilty parties.

Local residents are looking positive, hoping that the new initiatives will help in removing the garbage from the park. Visitors can enjoy a morning walk again and get the clean and green environment near the airport garden.
