Grant for E-Cycle from Delhi Government

The individuals who wish to purchase electric cycles but are still waiting that the Delhi government will carry out incentives have good news now.
The Delhi government is probably going to give out subsidies to the people who purchase e-cycles alongside extra money incentives in the upcoming week. Following the directions of the transport department the original equipment manufacturer (OEMs) have started getting certification on the range of their products per charge of the battery and now applying with the transport department for the listing of their models.
Three OEMs – Hero Electro, Tata International Stryder and EMotorad – have shared the list of approved models that will get published on the transport department’s portal on electric vehicles. It can be reached here at: http://ev.delhi.gov.in. The list will be updated whenever more OEMs get the range confirmation.

From the list published on the portal, the customers can choose and buy an e-cycle. They will get 25% of the purchase incentive on the selling price, not more than Rs. 5,500. Initial 1,000 clients will be qualified for an extra money motivation of Rs 2,000, which will be moved into their bank accounts.

The incentive on e-cycles can only be applied by the dealers on behalf of their customers, after the sale. Within 7-10 working days the incentive will be credited to the customers’ bank account that is linked with their Aadhar number.

Delhi is presumably the first state in the country to give an incentive to buyers & sellers of the e-cycle having a speed of 25kmph. As normal cycles, e-cycles can be pedalled and can be used for distance travel. The government targets the large scale use by people who are involved in short distances.

Since August 2020, the Delhi government has launched this scheme, and more than 50,000 electric vehicles have been sold. The government has spent about Rs 60 crore on this scheme.
