Green Plan in Action

In order to reduce the air pollution caused by dust particles, the Delhi government has decided to increase the greenery on the roads and flyovers of the national capital with the help of a variety of shrubs, vines and plants.

Plants, shrubs and vines will be planted on identified roads and flyovers. According to the Green Action Plan of the Delhi government, 3,50,550 bushes and 5000 saplings will be planted on the roads and flyovers of PWD from July to March 2023 next year. It will also be monitored by the government. The Public Works Department has identified the stretches where there is less greenery and will beautify these roads. Some of these parts include Ring Road, Chirag Delhi Flyover, IIT Flyover etc.

Under this massive campaign, plants and shrubs will be used for roads and flyovers. The main objective of the project is to reduce the dust pollution caused by dirt in open spaces and roads. No dry and empty space will be left for the dust to fly on the roads. Efforts have been started to improve it further. The department is conducting a survey as to which are the places where greenery can be developed. For this, vacant places are being searched on the side of the road. Greenery will also be increased under the flyovers and the footpaths of the road will also be made encroachment free.
