However, the price of this rare breed of mango is Rs 2.70 lakh per kg in the international market and above Rs 2,000 per kg in India.

Usually, mangoes are available in yellow and green colour. But the Miyazaki first turns purple before becoming a bright red colour. The weight of each mango is around 300 to 350 grams. It needs extra care, and monitoring throughout the season is essential, as this rare mango is very sensitive to disease and pests.

The Miyazaki mango is not commonly available in the Indian markets. But our country’s farmers have started its farming. Several of them have procured seedlings from nurseries across the country. Numerous nurseries in Pune and West Bengal are selling its sapling, and the demand is growing.
