GSHCL creates history through sale of vegetables and fruits
Panaji: The Goa State Horticultural Corporation Limited (GSHCL) made history as they generated a bumper revenue through the sale of vegetables and fruits in a single day. The corporation earned above Rs 2 lakh on December 23, 2024, selling around 6 tonnes of fresh veggies and different kinds of fruits. GSHCL has achieved this milestone due to its commitment to quality. Supervisors and marketing inspectors minutely check the quality of vegetables supplied to outlets. Besides this, they submit reports, making it clear that customers get fresh produce.
“This is a record for us,” said Chandrahas Desai, Managing Director of GSHCL. “Previously, our daily sales were around Rs 50,000, but with significant changes in operations, we gradually increased to Rs 1 lakh per day before reaching this milestone.”
A special WhatsApp group has been created for supervisors, suppliers, and management for the smooth process of sales. Supervisors have to share updates and send photos of daily supplies; immediate action is taken if there is any compromise in quality. For the ease of customers, GSHCL also introduced a WhatsApp complaint number, allowing vendors and customers to raise their voices easily.

This change caters to early risers and working professionals who prefer shopping in the evenings. “Our outlets are staffed during peak hours to serve busy customers better,” Desai added.
At present, GSHCL operates 1,196 outlets all over the state, and daily supply of vegetables has boosted from 3 tonnes to 8 tonnes; the corporation has planned to increase it to 10 tonnes per day soon. The main focus is to maintain quality, convenience, and innovation, with the sale GSHCL has also strengthened its relationship with customers, setting a new standard for horticultural corporations in India.
