Guava farming brings prosperity to Bundelkhand’s farmers
Bundelkhand: The region of Bundelkhand in Uttar Pradesh has often been considered backward in the agriculture sector. Things are changing rapidly here; farmers are now shifting to horticulture, fetching huge income. Ramlal Mishra changed the scenario; he ventured into horticulture and started guava cultivation. In the initial stage, he faced lots of challenges, but his dedication paid dividends in the end. Currently, he is a role model for the fellow farmers in the entire region.
Mishra got inspiration after seeing YouTube videos on guava farming, learning the basics of its farming. Therefore, he took a bold step and started cultivation of guava on his farm. He sowed more than 100 guava saplings in the beginning, and seven to eight months later his trees started bearing fruit. He got bumper guava production, earning a substantial income.

Ramlal said that each tree costs around 1,000 rupees from its plantation to maintenance, but the returns are much more. Every guava tree gives 10,000 rupees per season. His overall earnings reach several lakhs, opening the door for other farmers in the region to plant guava trees and become successful.
The switch to guava farming improves the economic conditions of the farmers, but it also shows others that horticulture is replete with a lot of success. At present, the farmers of Bundelkhand have adopted modern techniques of farming to change their agriculture business into a profitable one. Ramlal’s success story shows that farmers can get prosperity through the cultivation of seasonal fruits.
