Hailstorms damage horticulture crops in AP: Naidu promises help

Anantapur: Unexpected rain and hailstorms have caused severe damage to horticulture crops in several parts of Andhra Pradesh. It is expected that 1,670 hectares of horticulture crops are badly affected in Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Kadapa, and Prakasam districts. A huge number of farmers are now in distress. They are on the receiving end and in distress. The state government has assured them of help.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met with Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu and other officials from the Agriculture Department to review the situation. He urged them to provide immediate help to the farmers suffering due to natural calamities.

The CM enquired about the health of two banana farmers of the state who attempted suicide due to crop loss in these calamities. The officials said that both the farmers are getting treatment in Anantpur hospital. They are now out of danger.

As per the authorities report, crops in 40 villages have been spoiled due to hailstorms. The CM urged to provide quick relief to the farmers and affected people of the areas so that they can recover from their losses.

Meanwhile, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is set to visit Lingala mandal in Kadapa district on Monday. He is expected to meet the affected farmers and take stock of the situation.

Suffering farmers are looking for quick relief from the state government, and they also want permanent solutions to the situation so that such losses can be prevented in the future.
