Himachal govt to provide subsidies to horticulture farmers in Una

Una: The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to assign Rs 2.3 crore to support the horticulture farmers of Una. This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal recently during a meeting while reviewing the progress of the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission. The aim of the mission is to increase the production of fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, honey, and flowers at the local levels. Farmers are being encouraged to visit within or outside the state to get the knowledge of modern techniques.

Subsidized packages have been offered to farmers to increase their production as well as income. As per the report, farmers will get fertilizers, insecticides, irrigation facilities, and mechanized farm equipment at subsidized rates. The range of subsidy will be from 40% to 50%. Subsidies of Rs 75,000 for power tillers with 8-horsepower capacity and Rs 50,000 for those below 8 horsepower.

Farmers can avail loans of up to Rs 40 lakh and Rs 7.5 lakh for high-tech plant nurseries on 4-hectare land and for smaller nurseries on 1-hectare land, respectively, with a 40% subsidy. Besides this, Rs 8 lakh subsidy for mushroom growers to set up compost substrate units. Subsidy will also be provided to farmers to acquire modern tools and boost irrigation facilities.

Deputy Director of Horticulture KK Bhardwaj gave all the details regarding the subsidy. He further added that these initiatives are going to improve farmers’ incomes by providing them modern equipment, resources, and practical knowledge of farming.
