Horticulture Department gears up for Lalbagh flower show

Bengaluru: The much-anticipated traditional Lalbagh flower show is set to get underway in Bengaluru from January 16 to 26, 2025. The event is being organized by the Horticulture Department as part of the Republic Day celebrations. This year’s theme is on Maharishi Valmiki. The department has been gearing up to depict Valmiki’s life and the Ramayana epic through a dazzling flower showcase.

Visitors will get a chance to see a vibrant display of cut flowers, with sunflowers and other blooms grown in colder climates. Besides this, several imported flowers will also be showcased in the event. It is expected that during this year’s show there will be around 7-8 lakh pink and orange roses, along with white, pink, and yellow chrysanthemums.

It is expected that more than 100 spectators will come to enjoy the flower show this year. Several tourists from outside districts and states are likely to visit the flourishing flower show. The event’s popularity has been growing, enticing a huge number of visitors to witness the wonderful exhibition of flowers.

Horticulture Department Joint Director M. Jagadish mentioned that discussions with experts are ongoing to ensure a captivating display of Valmiki’s life events through flowers. “Important events of the Ramayana epic will be presented in the flower exhibition,” he stated.

It brings an opportunity to the spectators to see the dazzling floral artistry while celebrating cultural heritage. Several flowers, such as anthurium, lily, orchid, gerbera, sevantige, dracaena, and zanado, will be used in the creation of the statue of the composer of the Ramayana, Valmiki.
