NDMC Receives 44 Complaints in a Single Day due to rainfall in Delhi

New Delhi: As part of his ongoing commitment and vigilance to ensure the successful organization of the G20 Summit Vice Chairman, NDMC, Satish Upadhyay demonstrated unwavering dedication by visiting the NDMC’s Disaster Management Centre on Humayun Road in New Delhi, both day and late at night times. This visit underscores the meticulous preparations undertaken for the G20 Summit.

Upadhyay said that with relentless heavy rains persisting throughout Saturday night, more than 1000 dedicated NDMC workers and Quick Reaction Teams ( QRTs) exhibited remarkable dedication towards giving their 100% and worked tirelessly around the clock to prevent waterlogging on key roads designated for use by Heads of States during the G20 Leaders Summit.

He said that between 1:00 am and 3:00 am, these unsung heroes of the NDMC Team mobilized swiftly to ensure the roads were clear and passable for the high-profile VIP convoys. Their unwavering commitment to the humanitarian cause was evident as they battled adverse weather conditions and worked tirelessly to uphold the city’s reputation.

NDMC ADDRESSES 44 COMPLAINTS IN A SINGLE DAY DUE TO RAINFALL

As of today, the Disaster Management Centre received a total of 70 complaints. Of these, 26 were received last Saturday night, and the remaining 44 poured in by 11 am today. The reported issues encompassed minor waterlogging, fallen tree leaves, and malfunctioning road lights, necessitating swift and effective action.

SWIFT RESOLUTION: 19 MINOR WATER LOGGING COMPLAINTS ADDRESSED WITHIN MINUTES

In a remarkable demonstration of efficiency, 19 instances of waterlogging were promptly resolved at crucial locations, including Janpath, Sikandra Road, C Hexagon, Copernicus Marg, Barakhamba Road, Harish Chander Mathur Lane, and Kautilya Marg. The removal of water stagnation was achieved through manual efforts and the utilization of Super Soccer machines. Additionally, water stagnation in potted plants at prominent areas was effectively addressed. Importantly mentioned here that female workers are also part of these operations on the roads with full dedication and tireless spirits on the field.

35 FOUNTAINS WERE REFILLED

Upadhyay disclosed that out of the total 65 fountains, 35 fountains were refilled within a two-hour security window from 10.30 pm to 12.30 am, addressing critical requirements for cleanliness, including clearing hot bins and garbage from roads. Notably, there is no window available from 1 to 7 pm for completing such tasks, emphasizing the urgency and dedication of the NDMC.

EFFICIENT RESOLUTION OF UNINTERRUPTED ELECTRICITY SUPPLY

The NDMC’s responsiveness shone through in the swift resolution of supply issues at Vidyut Bhawan, occurring between 2.30 am and 3.30 am last night. This dedication underscores the commitment to ensuring a seamless G20 experience.

IMPRESSIVE AIR QUALITY IN NDMC AREAS IS ONGOING FROM LAST WEEK

On the environmental front, NDMC recorded an impressive average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 19.96 on September 10th, indicating very good air quality within its areas. While in the last 5 days, AQI is less than 100 maintained in the New Delhi area by the sincere efforts by Team NDMC. This has been achieved by deep cleaning of roads, and pedestrian pathways with water, mechanical Road sweeping, and Horticulture improvement by a dedicated, motivated, inspired workforce and teamwork by NDMC.

DEDICATED STAFF ADDRESSED DECORATIONS AND HORTICULTURE WORK

The NDMC staff demonstrated their unwavering dedication by promptly addressing concerns related to decorations. The horticulture department mobilized various teams in different locations, ensuring quick responses and coordination from the G20 Control Room on Humayun Road. The teams effectively managed the repair and maintenance of decorations, including floral boards, floral fountains, and tree wrapping with floral garlands. They worked tirelessly to maintain decorative plant pots, window trays, and proper pot alignment, even in highly secured areas like C Hexagon, SP Marg, and Akbar road.

FEEDING STRAY ANIMALS

Furthermore, NDMC actively engaged in feeding stray animals at natural locations. Authorized animal feeders were provided a window to feed stray dogs within their respective areas, with seamless coordination with Delhi Police. In areas with restricted access due to security concerns, NDMC utilized its cattle-catching vehicles and teams to feed all cattle and monkeys within the Sardar Patel Marg Forest area, ensuring their well-being with food and water in both the morning and evening.

ENFORCEMENT TEAMS VIGILANT EYES

Six teams of Enforcement were deployed from the North and South Zone consisting 10-12 personnel in each team. All the hoardings/ flexes, signage’s / hanging wires which were fallen or broken or bent due to rain/wind were removed/corrected on the spot teams were vigil round the clock and reported the water logging issue to the NDMC control room set up at Humayun road. Further teams inspected the street lights & LED and any defects were reported to the Control room. All field teams of Enforcement were minute to minutes connected with the control room and Joint Director / Dy Directors Enforcement monitored every required action in the close supervision of director enforcement. This is common for South/North enforcement department.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF EMPLOYEE’S DEDICATION

While giving thanks to all staff Upadhyay mentioned all the officers and approx. 500 additional staff were appointed to last night tasks and also thanks to the relentless efforts of these dedicated workers and the coordination from the control room, all roads were cleared and prepared before the VIP movement commenced. He highlighted that both male and female staff members diligently worked during late night hours, reflecting their commendable commitment to supporting the success of the G20 Summit This extraordinary display of commitment underscores the NDMC’s dedication to ensuring the success of the G20 Summit.

COMMITMENT TO G20 SUMMIT SUCCESS

Upadhyay informed that the G20 control room also played a pivotal role by dispatching teams near Pragati Maidan, facilitating inter-departmental coordination. Throughout the night, the control room remained operational with active participation from the chairman and secretary of NDMC, ensuring a seamless response to any emerging challenges.

He said the NDMC remains fully committed to ensuring a successful and seamlessly executed G20 Summit. The organization will continue to address any concerns swiftly and efficiently.
