Horticulture farmers suffer huge losses amid heavy rains in AP
Vijayawada: Horticulture farmers of Andhra Pradesh have been facing a big challenge due to massive crop losses. Relentless rains and floods were the reasons behind the huge damage to crops. The actual damage has not been estimated so far.
The state government, after assessing the situation, made it clear that crops spanning over five lakh acres have been spoiled in several areas, such as NTR, Krishna, Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, and Eluru districts.
The state government has assessed the crop loss as likely to be more than Rs 1,500 crore. However, the farmers believe that the total loss would be around Rs 10,000 crore. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked the agriculture department to assess the situation as soon as possible.

Although agriculture officials are hoping that several crops are likely to survive once the floodwater recedes, but the farmers have lost all hope about saving anything from the fields. Heavy downpours have proved a nightmare for the horticulture farmers. Government officials have assured to provide all kinds of help to the affected farmers.
Andhra Pradesh government is adamant to provide all kinds of support after assessing the overall damage of the crops. Heavy rains have damaged several other crops like chilli, cotton, paddy, and pulses in the state. Government aid will also be provided to those farmers who were cultivating forest lands; previously, they were ineligible for government support.
