As a discipline horticulture has evolved and has widened the subjects range. It has changed decisively from cultivating herbal medicines to meeting needs of Handle supplement-related messes in an incapacitating manner.
Horticultural Therapy
Horticultural therapy consolidates social and behavioural science with horticulture and environmental science that is an interdisciplinary approach. It is an individual’s participation in gardening and plant-based activities with the assistance of a therapist to achieve specific treatment goals-as defined by The American Horticultural Therapy Association (AHTA).
The ‘Horticultural Therapy Garden’ at the College of Agriculture in Vellayani (Kerala) in India teaches students the knowledge and skills needed in social, therapeutic, and vocational horticultural settings.
It helps in the development of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and eye-hand coordination in people with disabilities. Moreover, Horticulture Therapy has been shown to help people control their anger, anxiety, and frustration. It also aids in the resolution of social and communication issues.
