Karnal gears up to host workshop on sustainable horticulture
Karnal: The Centre of Excellence for Horticulture Skills in India (CEHSI) has been gearing up to organize a workshop titled “Sustainable Horticulture Practices amid Climate Change” at the CSSRI, Karnal, New Auditorium. The vibrant event is likely to bring experts, policymakers, and farmers on one platform to discuss at length and breadth how to make the horticulture sector strong enough to face the challenges such as climate change, soil degradation, and lack of water.
The main focus of the workshop will remain on minimizing the effect of climate change on the horticulture sector. Several core issues like sustainable crop production and efficient post-harvest management are expected to be discussed to curb food loss. Besides this, experts will also discuss market access and strong financial resilience for farmers through better credit access and rural banking.

Apart from farming techniques, the workshop will stress making a policy that would be farmer-friendly that can make them financially stable. With the coming of stakeholders from government, industry, and academia, the event is expected to address the ongoing difficulties in the horticulture sector.
This workshop is set to transmit knowledge to farmers to adopt modern techniques, using chemical-free pesticides and promoting sustainable horticulture. Climate change is a global issue; this initiative is set to play a key role in ensuring food security and improving farmers’ economic conditions.
