Karnataka to host inaugural Ooty ‘Winter Flower Festival’ 

Ooty: The Horticulture Department of Karnataka has been gearing up to organize the inaugural “Ooty Winter Flower Fest-2025” at the Karnataka Siri Horticultural Garden in Ooty. The festival is set to get underway on January 20. During the five-day festival, a new hanging bridge, along with the dazzling music and dance fountain, will also be unveiled, constructed at a cost of Rs 4.71 crore.

Dr M. Jagadish, Joint Director of the State Horticulture Department (Parks and Gardens), shared that the winter festival will offer more than just flowers. “It is a celebration of flowers, but also of the art and culture of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. We are doing it differently, offering a mix of cultural activities, music, dance, and floral displays,” he said.

It is expected that overall 50 and 70 varieties of flower replicas will be displayed in the event. Besides this, the main attraction would be the floral model of the Vidhana Soudha created from lakhs of flowers. The model is expected to be showcased on a 12-acre lawn, signifying the harmony between two South Indian states, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Chief Ministers of both the states will present during the event to symbolize the unity and brotherhood between the two neighbouring states.

It is likely that a large number of visitors will turn up to enjoy the flower fest. They will get an opportunity to enjoy different kinds of flowers. Through this flower festival, the state horticulture department has been aiming to boost tourism in Ooty.
