Kashmir gears up to welcome tourists with Hi-Tech Nursery
Srinagar: Kashmir is known all over the world for its breathtaking scenery. Therefore, tourists are enticed to visit the valley and enjoy their holidays with their families and friends. The majority of people earn their livelihood through the tourism and horticulture sectors, respectively. With the formation of a new government, Kashmir’s tourism is once again set to bloom with the upcoming two new projects: a chrysanthemum theme garden in Srinagar and a hi-tech flower nursery at Poloview.
These initiatives aim to boost tourism, support local growers, and promote sustainable horticulture. The Chrysanthemum Garden, covering 100 kanals in Srinagar’s Botanical Garden, will display colorful flowers in shades of yellow, red, pink, and purple. It is designed to attract tourists during October and November, traditionally a quieter time for tourism. The garden, costing Rs 4.83 crore, is expected to open by autumn 2025 and become a major autumn attraction, much like the Tulip Garden in spring.

At Poloview, the upgraded hi-tech nursery, built for Rs 1.869 crore, will not only grow flowers but also train local growers and citizens in sustainable gardening practices. This nursery aims to strengthen local floriculture by encouraging the cultivation of chrysanthemums and reducing dependence on imported tulip bulbs.
Officials believe these projects will benefit Kashmir’s tourism industry, from taxi drivers and shikarawalas to houseboat owners and artisans. They also highlight the government’s broader goal of boosting sectors like horticulture and handicrafts to create jobs and support economic growth.
The chrysanthemum garden is set to become the eye opener for tourism because of its vibrant bloom and the different colours of chrysanthemum, which further accelerate its beauty. The entire valley is set with gardens, flowers, and all the natural beauties; then it should be the first priority for the tourists to visit Jammu and Kashmir and see paradise on earth.
