Horticulture Waste Processing Unit Inaugurated in Chandigarh

On Tuesday, Banwarilal Purohit, the administrator of Chandigarh, inaugurated a horticulture waste processing plant in Industrial Area, Phase 2.

On the site of an existing sewerage treatment plant, a 1.5-acre plant has been planted. According to officials, the total cost of the project is 3.5 crore rupees, which covers the annual operating and maintenance costs. Briquettes, which are compressed blocks of coal dust or other combustible biomass material used for fuel, will be produced from raw horticulture waste at the plant, which has the capacity to process 30-40 tonnes of waste per day.

Purohit stated in his address to the gathering that the city is producing more horticultural waste and that the horticulture waste processing plant is an asset to the city’s beauty because it prevents the dumping of green waste caused by tree pruning.

He also stated that rather than being dumped in landfills, horticulture waste will now be scientifically processed to produce combustible products. Because they can be sold to various industrial units, he stated, the recycled products will bring in money.
