Lalbagh gears up for 11-day Republic Day floral extravaganza

Bengaluru: The Horticulture Department of Karnataka has been gearing up to organize the annual Republic Day Flower Show at Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bengaluru. This year, the flower show is set to be held from January 16 to January 26. The show would be based on the theme of Maharishi Valmiki and the epic Ramayana. The department has been preparing for the successful organization of the show on a war footing.

Visitors will get a chance to witness delightful flower imitations depicting the life of Maharishi Valmiki and several significant events from the Ramayana. The organizers have procured flowers for the event from both locally and internationally. It is expected that more than 25 lakh flowers of 70 different varieties will be used during the festival.

Several special species of flowers, such as Pushia, Agapanthus, Cyclamens, Calla lilies, and tuberous-rooted plants, are to be available in the event. As far as flowers are concerned, 15 lakh have been cultivated in Lalbagh itself.

Nature lovers are eagerly waiting for the event. Not to talk of the people of Bengaluru, visitors from nearby states are likely to visit the vibrant flower show. Organizers have made several basic arrangements for the visitors, such as drinking water, parking, and other facilities to accommodate the large number of visitors, so that they can enjoy every moment of the show.

The price of the ticket is Rs 80 to 100 for elderly people and Rs 30 for children. School students in uniform will get entry free. The 11-day floral show is set to provide all the amusements to visitors.
