Shillong: Meghalaya is gearing up to host the second edition of the strawberry festival starting from May 2-3, 2025. The festival is set to take place at three venues, like Sohliya in the Ri Bhoi District, Syntung in the East Khasi Hills, and Darechikgre in the West Garo Hills, known for their remarkable natural beauty. The festival was scheduled to be held on April 25-26 but was extended amid the funeral of Pope Francis.
Meghalayan Age Limited, in partnership with the state’s Tourism Department and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, is organizing this flourishing event, aiming to highlight the potential of agro-tourism. This initiative will boost the income of farmers, and local economies as well.

The event will be full of joy for visitors, such as they will get the chance to enjoy strawberry picking, culinary workshops, music shows, and cultural presentations, these are the events to be presented during the event. Besides this, activities like cycling tours, farm treks, and glamping will be the other source of entertainment for the tourists.
The festival is expected to provide a chance for local farmers, self-help groups (SHGs), and entrepreneurs to display their products. Focus is likely to be given on organic farming. Experts will reveal how to do organic farming and its advantages as well.
Strawberry production has experienced remarkable growth in the state in recent times. The state government has been planning to expand the cultivated areas. The first time the festival was held, in 2024, it attracted a huge number of visitors from all over the country. It seems this year’s festival will be more exciting, which will unveil the rich cultural and agricultural success of Meghalaya.
