Nainital’s primrose flowers thrill visitors with their charm

Nainital: Uttarakhand city Nainital is known for its natural beauty and abundance of lakes, which make it charming and eye-catching among the tourists. Therefore, the city is famous as the ‘Lake City’ across the world. The lush green fields and blooming flowers of different varieties make it a delightful hill station. At present, primrose has been blooming in the city, adding a touch of golden beauty to the region. This variety of flower not only spreads fragrance but holds some historical significance as well.

During the period of British rule, primrose was preferred by British officials. They were so fascinated by the beauty of primrose that they started calling the entire region ‘Primrose Cottage’. Even today, the past glimpses could be seen.

As per Digvijay Singh Bisht, President of the Nainital Hotel Association, the primrose flower has become an attraction for tourists. He even named his hotel “Hotel Primrose” in honour of this beautiful flower. Many visitors staying at his hotel ask about the name and express their desire to see the primrose flower.

Besides the beauty of this flower, it also keeps a significant place in the city’s biodiversity. Primrose is generally found in forests and hilly areas of the city. Efforts are being made by the horticulture sector to preserve this flower at any cost so that future generations can also enjoy its charm.
