Nature’s wonder: Hibiscus flowers change colours all day long
Amaravati: It is the tendency of flowers to bloom in the morning and fade when the sun rises. However, some flowers bloom at night and look the same throughout the day. It is their natural quality. However, hibiscus flowers have different stories and change colours during the day. In the morning, they look white, then turn pink in the afternoon; by evening, they become red.
This nature’s wonder has been taking place in Gorribanda village in the Saravakota mandal of Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh. What is that? Wondering why hibiscus is changing colours? But you should know this. What is special about this flower?
People are curious about these changing colours and visit the backyard of S. Krishnamurthy, who has this special hibiscus plant, often asking, “What is this Mandaram changing colours?” Farmer Krishnamurthy got this plant from Gunupuram, Odisha, about a year and a half ago.

Horticulture Department official Mangamma explained that these flowers belong to the Hibiscus mutabilis species, also known as cotton hibiscus. These plants change colours and were originally found in South China but have now spread to many countries. They are also called Dixie Rosemallow, Confederate Rose, Cotton Rosemallow, and Cottonrose.
Additionally, in the Parvathipuram Manyam district of Andhra Pradesh, farmers are planting hibiscus seeds through a new method. This technique allows about 20 different types of flowers to bloom from a single hibiscus plant. The grafted hibiscus plants will start producing flowers within three months, and organizers plan to supply these plants in the next two months.
