NBRI eases rules for contestants in its annual flower show

Lucknow: The National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) has been gearing up to host its much-awaited annual Chrysanthemum and Coleus Flower Show on December 14-15. This year, the event is set to be replete with promises. The event will be more inclusive, giving everyone—from homemakers to professional gardeners—an equal chance to exhibit their products and talents.

In a move to make the competition more accessible, NBRI has simplified its participation rules. “Earlier, the categories and rules were quite complex. We’ve now made positive changes to encourage more participation,” said SK Tiwari, in charge of the NBRI Garden. He explained that participants no longer need to have over two dozen plant varieties to compete for trophies.

This year’s competition will feature two main categories: individual and institute. Participants can compete in four sections: chrysanthemum, coleus, floral arrangements, and photography. Even those with just one or a few pots of chrysanthemum or coleus can join the fun.

Exciting titles like King of the Show, Queen of the Show, and Prince of the Show will be up for grabs, along with four trophies and two best group prizes for chrysanthemum and coleus displays.

All such changes have made this year to give a chance to newcomers into the competition and ensure a diverse set of winners each year. Therefore, from an experienced gardener to a hobbyist, there is an equal chance for all to shine in the competition.
