Noida authority receives funds to mitigate air pollution

Noida: The Noida authority is set to spend Rs 38 crore to combat air pollution that usually creates havoc in the minds of the people, especially during winter, as per an official. The authority is planning to buy anti-smog guns, hybrid smoke guns, and water sprinklers to mitigate air pollution when the GRAP is implemented.

The authority is set to use Rs 10 crore for the overall improvement and repair of all potholes and roads, which are responsible for traffic jams, leading to an increase in air pollution, the official said.

“We are ready to take all necessary measures to overcome the issue of air pollution in the coming winter. Rs 38 crore has been received as an NCAP (National Clean Air Programme) fund to take steps to combat air pollution. Five anti-smog guns have already been purchased, and talks are going on to purchase 10 more guns, said Lokesh M, chief executive officer (CEO), Noida authority.

It is certain that the hybrid anti-smog guns are effective in reducing the air pollution. It sprays fine mist or water droplets into the air to lessen air pollution. The Noida authority is also planning to spray water from the high areas for the settling of dust particles. In fact, most of the time, water sprinkle takes place from the ground, which is not very effective, but if it is sprinkled from high areas, then it will give a better result, the CEO said.

Noida roads are bumpy, so measures will be taken to fill the potholes to make them flat for the smooth traffic flow, helping in reducing the air pollution, said officials.
