Noida: The Noida Authority has decided to install mist sprayers along a 700-metre stretch of DSC Road, between Sector 15 and Sector 16 metro stations, aiming to curb air pollution. The waterworks department will manage the entire system, featuring 13 poles, each fitted with six nozzles that spray fine water mist into the air, officials said.

These mist sprayers operate twice a day—from 8 am to 11 am and again from 6 pm to 9 pm—spraying RO-treated water at 10-minute intervals. Each pole uses about 30 litres of water per hour, supplied through a 5,000-litre tank connected to a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant. The system is automated and controlled via a smart control panel.

Officials say this system helps reduce dust and cool down the air during peak hours by settling particulate matter like road dust and allergens. “This stretch of DSC Road, being below an elevated metro line, made it easier to set up the necessary infrastructure,” an official noted.

RP Singh, General Manager of Noida Authority’s water works department, said, “We observed a similar project in New Delhi where 15 mist sprayers were used along Lodhi Road. After seeing positive results, we decided to try it in Noida. If this pilot is successful, we’ll expand it to other parts of the city to help improve air quality.”  “This system will help cut down fuel and maintenance costs while offering a cleaner and automated way to manage air pollution,” Singh added.
