Noida residents worry amid heaps of unattended horticultural waste
Noida: The building up of unattended dry leaves and other horticultural waste in several parks and green belts across Noida and Greater Noida has worried the residents of the cities. Wastes have not been removed for several days, residents said. The accumulation is considered dangerous to health and may even cause fires in several areas. People have raised complaints, claiming that waste attracts mosquitoes, creating health risks.
Sanjeev Kumar, a member of the Residents Welfare Association (RWA) in Sector 51, visits Meghdootam Park regularly. He went on to say that despite many complaints, the situation has not improved. “The contractor has failed to keep the park clean; no work is being done as per the plan. There are no checks or penalties,” he said.

The city’s green belts in sector 52 are in shabby condition, as per the residents of the area. Some people asked the Noida Authority to take stern action against the guilty parties. Kavita Jamil, vice-chairperson of the Arun Vihar RWA, said parks in Sector 29 are also suffering. “The horticulture department needs to take this matter seriously,” she said.
However, the officials from both the cities are singing different songs. They said that all essential actions are being taken to improve the situation and restore normalcy. But the residents feel that the situation on the ground level is different; it needs to be improved.
Local residents are urging the civic authorities to assess the situation and regularize the cleaning of parks and green belts. It is essential to remove the piling horticultural waste at the earliest because it may cause several diseases in different areas.
