Odisha takes strides to become a horticulture hub

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is taking a long stride to become a vital cog in the horticulture sector in the country. The state government recently, in collaboration with Palladium Consulting India Pvt. Ltd., inked 11 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with private sector exporters. The event took place as part of the Krushi Odisha 2025 initiative. Several dignitaries were present during the agreement, including Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo, Principal Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Arabinda Padhee, and Directors of Agriculture, Horticulture, and Fisheries.

Signing on MoUs with 11 exporters was the significant point of the event, aiming to boost the export of Odisha’s fresh fruits and vegetables through this collaboration, giving local farmers better market access. Besides this, they will get sufficient price for their produce and global recognition as well. This initiative makes it clear about Odisha’s commitment to becoming a key player in horticultural exports.

The Krushi Odisha 2025 event also highlighted the contributions made by farmers of the state, honouring awardees for their remarkable achievements and encouraging other farmers to go for modern farming. This collaboration is likely to open several opportunities for the Odisha farmers, providing them access to markets and experts. They will get the knowledge of modern techniques to increase yield. Odisha has the potential to establish itself as a leading producer of horticultural crops and exporter in the coming years.
