Officials discuss horticulture scheme implementation in Doda
Doda: The Chairman of the District Development Council (DDC), Dhananter Singh Kotwal, called a meeting on Tuesday to evaluate the ongoing developmental projects and the implementation of numerous horticulture schemes running in Doda. Top officials of the Horticulture Department, including SDO Thathri, Abdul Rauf, and Chief Horticulture Officer Raghunath Upadhyaya, were also present. The aim of the meeting was to review the status of the Holistic Agriculture Development Plan (HADP) and the development of other horticulture works.
This initiative was taken to improve the district’s agricultural economy. Several key issues were discussed on this occasion, such as timely project execution, overcoming challenges, and identifying areas that are lacking in the horticulture sector in Doda.

Kotwal explained the importance of regular field visits by officials to monitor project progress and ensure that benefits reach farmers at the grassroots level. He stressed the need to promote high-yield crop varieties, adopt modern agricultural techniques, and increase farmers’ awareness about government schemes to enhance productivity and income.
The chairman also stressed the close coordination among officials and collaboration with local farmers and stakeholders to overcome the regional challenges. Currently, Doda has been facing issues such as irrigation problems, pest control, and market access. He asked the officers to work as a unit to achieve the goals of HADP and related programmes.
The meeting took place to boost the horticulture sector in Doda with an aim on increasing farmers’ income and making agricultural sustainability.
