Officials inspect exotic species of fruits in Bihar’s Kheria Village

Kodha: District Magistrate Manish Kumar Meena, along with several key officials, visited farmer Prashant Chaudhary’s unique gardening and nursery at his Kheria village, where they saw several crops, including lemons, apples, guavas, and even exotic species like Mian Zaki mango and Agarud, whose products are highly valued in the market.

Several officials, including Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Ranjit Jha, Assistant Director Shashya Sudama Thakur, Assistant Director Horticulture Madhu Priya, and others, visited to see Prashant Chaudhary’s orchards, where the farmer provided a detailed overview of his crops. Notably, he talked about the cultivation of Mian Zaki mango and Agarud; their market value is unbelievable; wood alone is selling for Rs 3 lakh per kg.

Chaudhary explained about the careful planting and organic fertilization techniques, stressing the sustainable methods he uses to yield maximum profit. His orchard also boasts 1,200 lemon plants spread over 10 acres, which attract traders from the Seemanchal and Kosi regions of Bihar. Apart from lemons, Chaudhary’s orchard is replete with a collection of crops, including apples, pears, black pepper, black turmeric, coffee, guavas, papayas, and Thailand litchis—several of them are rare commodities in Bihar.

DM Manish Kumar admired Chaudhary’s efforts, impressed with his use of drip irrigation, which optimizes water use and enhances crop production. Meena asked the Agriculture Department officials to provide Chaudhary with all kinds of benefits from various government schemes for his innovative style of agriculture.
