One Horticulture Model Village will be Developed in Every Development Block in UP

In order to take the programs of horticulture development to all the gram panchayats of the state, one horticulture model village is being developed in each development block. Deputy Director and DHO level officers will inspect each model village. Along with this, flex boards will be installed outside the model village for information. It will be displayed on the board that the concerned village has been identified as a model village.

Minister of State for Horticulture and Agriculture Export (Independent Charge) Dinesh Pratap Singh instructed that in order to increase the potato, seed, production program on the vacant fertile land of the department, a register should be maintained for assets with full details of departmental farm houses and production units. He said that such land and buildings of the Horticulture Department, which are not mentioned in the revenue records, should be marked.

The Horticulture Minister instructed that the Seed Processing Center, Basti and Aliganj, Lucknow should be utilized with full capacity. He emphasized on increasing the quality production by expanding the area of dragon fruit, strawberry etc. crops under innovative programmes. Farmers should be encouraged to set up cold rooms near the market. He instructed all the deputy directors to hold congregational meetings in the first week of the month. He instructed that under ‘Per-drop-more-crop’ districts with less progress should be reviewed by giving weekly targets. Seeds of rabi crops should be distributed by October 20. Show cause notices should be given to the horticulture officers of the districts who are not making satisfactory progress.

Agriculture Production Commissioner Manoj Kumar Singh directed that all aspects of horticulture development should be integrated and developed in cluster form by implementing departmental schemes more effectively. All Deputy Directors and Horticulture Officers should provide the report of the quantity of horticulture crops grown in their district.

In the review meeting, it was decided to set up a special Center of Excellence in Lucknow for the development of beekeeping and establish poly house/shednet house by marking Lucknow, Barabanki, Kanpur, Hapur under protected cultivation.
