Ooty prepares to host 127th Flower Show
Ooty: The 127th edition of the Ooty Flower Show is set to get underway at the Government Botanical Garden (GBG) from May 16 to May 21 as part of the Nilgiris Summer Festival. It is expected that above 50,000 flowerpots of different varieties are being prepared for display. Another good news is that more than 525,000 flower saplings of almost 240 varieties have been planted in GBG. The Government Rose Garden, home to 45,000 rose plants of about 4,700 varieties, remains a major attraction for tourists.
The summer festival will also feature the 65th Fruit Show at Sims Park, Coonoor, from May 23 to 25 and the 13th Vegetable Show at Nehru Park, Kotagiri, on May 3 and 4. Additionally, a three-day Spice Show will be held in Gudalur from May 9 to 11.

A new highlight this year is the introduction of a Plantation Crop Show, scheduled at Government Katteri Park on May 31 and June 1.
The show dates were finalized during a meeting of the organizing committee, attended by Nilgiris Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru, SP N S Nisha, Joint Director of Horticulture Sibila Mary, and District Forest Officer S Gowtham. The committee’s president, Kumaravel Pandian, director of horticulture and plantation crops, addressed the gathering via video conferencing.
With this upcoming Ooty’s vibrant flower show, visitors will get an opportunity to see some breathtaking flowers, which would be a boon for the nature and flower lovers.
