Ozone pollution hits green areas than densely populated regions in Delhi
New Delhi: The increasing levels of ozone pollution have raised several concerns for people living in Delhi NCR and other metropolitan cities in India. However, it is a matter of great relief that Delhi NCR areas have been identified, which are most affected by ozone pollution. This will definitely help in overcoming the ozone pollution in these specific areas.
Usually, pollutants like PM 2.5 and PM 10 are used to measure air pollution. Of late, ozone pollution levels have gone up in several big cities in India, including Delhi. Ozone near the ground is considered very harmful to health.
Therefore, special attention is given to reducing the ozone layer to save people from deadly diseases. The Center for Science and Environment (CSE) has identified certain monitoring centers in Delhi and NCR where ozone pollution is the highest.

Currently, eight monitoring stations have been identified where ozone levels have stayed below the standard limit every day. Data from April 1, 2024, to July 18, 2024, was analyzed to check ozone levels.
Another interesting fact regarding the ozone pollution is that it affects greenery areas more in comparison to densely populated regions. Karni Singh Shooting Range and Narela in Delhi have a lot of greenery, and the population is thin as well; despite this, these areas experienced 78 days of ozone pollution this year. On the other hand, in busy areas like Ayanagar, Chandni Chowk, Pusa, and IHBAS, ozone pollution never crossed the limit on any day.
Ozone pollution is measured using an eight-hour average. If the ozone level at a monitoring center exceeds 100 micrograms per cubic meter in this eight-hour window, it is considered a day with ozone pollution.
