Patna: Papaya farming has been taking place on a large scale in several districts in Bihar. Numerous farmers have started switching toward fruit farming because it fetches more profit with low investment. As per the experts, profits can be further stretched through high-yielding varieties. The Red Lady Taiwan 786 variety for papaya farming is gaining popularity in the state. Farmers can earn up to Rs 15 lakh per acre annually by the cultivation of this papaya.

He further added that the consumption of papaya has been growing due to its medicinal values. It can generate a profit of Rs 12-15 lakh within a year. To get satisfactory results, farmers need to plant saplings at a distance of 6×6 feet. It means 1,000 plants to be grown in one acre of land.
