Polyhouse cultivation brings huge profit for UP farmer
Lucknow: Residence of Uttar Pradesh’s Shravasti district Asif Aziz Siddiqui has got his degree in civil engineering. But today he is a successful farmer, earning up to Rs 1.5 lakh per month. He uses the polyhouse technique in his flower farming. Currently, he has been growing marigold, roses, and seasonal vegetables in large quantities, inspiring other farmers to switch to the horticulture or floriculture sector for better profits.
He started his career as an engineer and joined the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), but his thinking was different. He left the job and returned to his native village and started flower cultivation with an aim to create employment opportunities for the local people.

He built a poloyhouse couple of years ago and started cultivating Gerbera flowers bought from the Netherlands. His first harvest was a huge success, as the flowers sold quickly in the Lucknow market, fetching him great profits.
Currently, Asif has been earning around 18–20 lakh per year from flower harvesting. He cultivates gerbera, roses, chrysanthemums, marigolds, gypsophila, limonium, and kamini flowers. His innovative thinking further increased his earnings.
He adopted modern techniques; he is now a role model for the local farmers of his region. His success story has made it clear that using modern methods like polyhouse cultivation and drip irrigation will bring higher profits and sustainable growth in the floriculture sector.
