Pookalam Flower Show gets underway at Malampuzha Garden

Malampuzha: The second edition of the Pookalam Flower Show got underway on Thursday at Malampuzha Garden, a well-known tourist place in South India. It was inaugurated by A. Prabhakaran, an MLA. The District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) and the Irrigation Department are jointly organizing the event. Efforts are being made to restore the lost glory of Malampuzha Garden. The MLA said that electrification work will start soon here, and he will allocate Rs 4 crore from his MLA fund.

Prabhakaran showed concern due to climate change and said that plant growth is not adequate amid the dearth of rain. He urged garden staff to choose such plants that can survive during the climate change. He further added that Malampuzha used to appear in Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam cinemas on a regular basis. It is our duty to bring back the golden eras of this garden.

The flower show got a huge success last year. But it lost its significance due to heavy traffic jams in the entire area. Therefore, the administration has left no stone unturned this year to avoid such difficulties and smoothly conduct the colourful event.

Visitors have a great opportunity to witness some breathtaking varieties of flowers and plants. The event will give a chance to people of all ages and flower lovers to go there and spend time with family and friends and get relaxed in a natural environment. The show will continue till January 22. The entry fee is nominal; it is Rs 50 for adults and Rs 20 for children.
