Nursery Today Desk
New Delhi: Here’s a good news for the farmers of Bhojpur district of Bihar. Krishi Vigyan Kendra has announced to provide 50% subsidy to those farmers who will dig new ponds for fisheries and up to 70% to ST-SC farmers. Farmers are also being recommended to do horticulture farming on the banks of the pond.
Both Centre and State governments are working towards increasing the income of the farmers of Bihar and this is a very great initiative to accomplish the goal. Farmers can cultivate different types of fruits and vegetables on the bund along with fish and duck farming in the pond.
All farmers are eligible to the advantages of this scheme. Government runs several schemes to promote fisheries. Centre has added one more scheme to encourage farmers towards fisheries, which is sponsored by the central government itself. Under the new scheme, up to 90 percent grant will be given to people belonging to extremely backward classes for digging ponds. This information was given by Dr. PK Dwivedi, a senior scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
Doing gardening on the bund of the pond will add to the beauty of the pond along with this, it will also attract insects in large numbers, which will eventually fall into the pond and become food for the fishes in it. This will help reduce the cost of farming as well as double the income of the farmers.
