Preparation to Prevent Dust Pollution by Increasing Greenery by Intensive Plantation Along the Road

To prevent dust pollution in the capital, now plantations will be done on the sides of the roads. The Environment Department has asked the Public Works Department (PWD) for a list of such roads on which there is a greater need to increase greenery. As soon as the list is received, work will be started in this direction. At present, water is being sprinkled to stop the dust flying on the roads and the roads are being cleaned with mechanical sweeping machines.
Intensive plantation can be helpful: Dust pollution can be prevented by intensive plantation along the roads and changing the sidewalks to green areas. In the green parts of Lutyens’ Delhi, by increasing greenery on the side of the roads and filling the land near the footpath with greenery, positive results have also been found in this direction. This greenery creates a buffer zone from which the dust gets entangled in it.
Priority to bushes in the plantation campaign: Under the plantation campaign going on in the year 2022-2023, a target has been set to plant 35 lakh 40 thousand saplings in Delhi. 7 lakh 8 thousand saplings will be distributed free of cost while the responsibility of planting 27 lakh 6 thousand saplings is given to 19 departments. There will be 20 lakh bushes. 7 lakh 6 thousand plants are of medium size and slightly larger. Shrubs, because their density will not only control the temperature, it will also help reduce air pollution by drawing in carbon dioxide and preventing dust from flying.
Special investigation campaign for the prevention of air pollution: Special investigation campaign will be conducted for industrial units in the direction of prevention of air pollution in Delhi, starting from April by the Environment Department. In this campaign starting from April 20, the industrial units will go into whether the environmental rules are being followed or not the cows that violate the rules.
According to Safar India, the share of pollution in Delhi is up to 42%, due to vehicular and other types of dust.
