Profits: Warangal FPO Mela inspires farmers to shift towards horticulture sector

Hyderabad: The Telangana Horticulture Department has been taking all essential steps to encourage farmers toward horticulture crops, which have immense scope and are more profitable compared to regular crops, fetching better incomes even in limited lands. In this regard, the department set up a special stall during the Farmer Producer Organization, FPO Mela in Warangal to highlight the significance of horticulture productivity. The diverse climate of Warangal has inspired farmers to adopt horticultural farming.

Speaking at the event, Jyothi, the Horticulture Officer of Narsampet Division, said, “By cultivating horticulture crops, farmers can earn more income in a shorter time. If crops are chosen based on water availability, climate, and market demand, farmers can gain better profits.”

The state government has left no stone unturned in the promotion of horticulture development, launching several initiatives in the support of farmers, including establishing nurseries, providing subsidies, supporting micro-irrigation schemes, and setting up cold storage facilities. The department is inspiring farmers to explore export opportunities because the demand for fruits, flowers, and spices is high in the global market.

During the event, horticulture officials gave information to farmers about modern techniques such as pest management, the benefits of organic farming, crop varieties, investment, and profits. Officials emphasized that the government’s schemes will improve the incomes of farmers. Warangal FPO Mela is a big stride to encourage farmers to embrace innovative ideas and opportunities.
