Punjab govt to recruit 111 horticulture officers soon: Minister

Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has taken a bold step towards making the horticulture sector more potent in the state. In view of this, the state government has approved the recruitment of 111 Horticulture Development Officers (HDOs). This decision is expected to strengthen the horticulture industry, help to enhance farmers’ income, and create employment opportunities in this sector. Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat said that CM has given his approval to these appointments.

He urged senior officials to submit their necessary details to the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) so that the selection process can take place as early as possible. The minister further added that the appointment of HODs will transmit technical skills to farmers about modern agricultural practices and how to use devices properly.

The minister explained that the new recruitment will boost the state’s agricultural economy. Additionally, farmers will get assistance in crop management, organic farming, and modern farming techniques. These initiatives are likely to boost the productivity as well as income of farmers.

The Punjab Government is adamant to leave no stone unturned in the advancement of the agriculture and horticulture sectors. In recent time, Punjab has made a lot of progress in this sector, exporting fruits and vegetables to other nations.
